WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A DBT SKILLS GROUP
In a DBT skills group, clients can expect to receive formalised coaching in four modules:
- Mindfulness – gain awareness of your emotions and learn to accept them
- Emotion Regulation – understand the function of your emotions, the urges that accompany intense emotions, and learn how to decide whether or not to act on those urges
- Distress Tolerance – stress is a natural part of life, and you can manage stress better with skills that build stress tolerance
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – become more aware of how your behaviour affects your relationships so that you can make positive changes and practice healthy communication and boundaries
