The Sleep Lab: Programme Details

Clients can participate in the Sleep Lab in person or online, either with the full Sleep Workshop (outlined in detail below) or choose from abbreviated offerings, which may include:

  • A 1-hour Sleep Assessment with Sleep Specialist Dr Sundeep Chohan

  • CBTi sessions

The full Sleep Workshop starts with an initial 2-hour bespoke sleep consultation, which takes clients through a valuable deep dive to identify sleep issues using a combination of a Sleep Lab blood panel, a Sunrise sleep apnea test, an MEG scan in partnership with MYndspan, and measurement of stress responses.

Sleep Disturbances & Insomnia

Insufficient sleep duration has been linked with seven of the fifteen leading causes of death in the United States, including cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, cerebrovascular disease, accidents, diabetes, septicaemia, and hypertension (Kochanek et al., 2014).

Evidence suggests sleep plays an important part in determining cognitive performance and workplace productivity, with a lack of sleep leading to more traffic accidents, industrial accidents, medical errors, and loss of work productivity (Nuckols et al., 2009; Pack et al., 1995). Sleep-related economic losses have a worldwide annual financial impact of up to $50 billion in the UK and $411 billion in the US.

A Better Approach to Sleep

A one-stop response is rarely effective in comprehensively treating a sleep disorder. For example, a CPAP machine isn’t the end-all solution for a patient diagnosed with moderate to severe OSA – they will require multiple medical approaches, including nutrition and exercise regimes and a review of their testosterone levels. Because the majority of testosterone is made in deep sleep, the same patient may also struggle with loss of muscle mass, fatigue, low libido, low mood and anxiety, poor self-esteem, and loss of confidence.

APN London prioritises a genuinely holistic multidisciplinary sleep treatment plan based on the latest research in neuroscience, medicine, psychology, environmental factors, and lifestyle psychiatry using the latest technologies. We root this approach in the Japanese concept of Kaizen – ‘small, sustainable and achievable improvements with a cumulative impact over many weeks’ to show long term significant results.
