1:1 THERAPY AT APN LONDON

Individual therapy and group therapy offer powerful tools to help you learn, process, and grow.

EXPLORE INDIVIDUAL THERAPY OPTIONS BELOW
Develop Tools for Sustained Healing Heal with Professional Support

Working with an individual therapist can help you achieve a deeper level of healing, customised to your needs. A clinician will work with you to establish a level of trust and together, you can delve into the root cause of addiction, mental health issues, and trauma. You’ll learn to manage your emotions and behaviours, process stress, and achieve goals outside of recovery.

Individual therapy helps you manage the deeply personal aspects of your story that you might be hesitant to share in a group setting. It can even enhance group therapy by letting you become more comfortable discussing your problems. You’ll learn new techniques that you can practice with others in group therapy, and you’ll be able to take what you learn from group sessions and process one-on-one with a therapist.

A COMBINED APPROACH FOR BETTER OUTCOMES

At APN London, both individual therapy sessions and therapy groups are available in our Harley Street Medical Area office. When you work one-on-one with a clinician, you’ll learn the skills you need to process complex emotions and get to the root of addiction, mental health issues, and trauma. Then, in group sessions, you’ll be able to practice these skills in a supportive environment with clinician guidance.

When comparing group and individual therapy, it’s essential to recognise that both treatments can work together as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Each treatment carries unique benefits that help people overcome mental health challenges and substance use disorders, and they work better together than either therapy does alone.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress of past trauma using bilateral stimulation that open the neural pathways for healing. EMDR pulls from other therapeutic techniques to help your brain understand that you are no longer experiencing an immediate threat. Clients who participate can move through trauma more quickly in comparison to other therapy techniques.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based practice that’s been shown to be incredibly effective in helping people start living an addiction-free life. In motivational interviewing sessions, therapists work with clients to help them realize their own internal motivations – instead of telling a client why they “need” to change. This approach reframes the power dynamic by treating clients as equal partners within the therapeutic alliance.
